Founded by Magic Mike, a proud Ha Giang native fluent in English and fueled by a deep love for the Loop, Ha Giang Motorventures began with a simple idea. After spending time exploring the world beyond his hometown, he came back to share the real, raw beauty of Ha Giang with international travelers.
But today, our story is about an entire community working together.
Ha Giang Motorventures starts with Magic Mike, who was born into the Bố Y ethnic group, a small minority in Vietnam with only about 3,000 people. Like many young kids, Mike moved to Hanoi to study at the Foreign Trade University, hoping to build a career in the big city.
He started an e-commerce business, but things did not go as planned. After that failure, he realized the fast paced city life was not for him. He packed up and returned to Ha Giang.
Back home, Mike realized his local background was his biggest strength. He knew the culture, the backroads, and the highland way of life. Fluent in English, he bought a single motorbike and started guiding small groups of travelers.
But as more travelers fell in love with the authentic Ha Giang experience, Mike knew he couldn't do it alone. What started as one guy on a bike quickly grew into something much bigger.
Today, Ha Giang Motorventures is a massive local family. We are incredibly proud to have a team of over 400 local drivers, representing the diverse ethnic groups. Our crew is made up of guys from all over the highlands: Tày, Dao, Hmong, Bố Y, Nùng, and more.
For us, this is about more than just running tours on the Ha Giang Loop. It's about creating real, sustainable impact. By training and employing local riders, we provide stable jobs and a reliable source of income for hundreds of families in the region.
We have grown a lot since day one, but our core vibe remains exactly the same. We are just a group of locals sharing our backyard, riding every single day with the same passion and authenticity that started it all.
We aim to deliver authentic, safe, and immersive journeys that connect travelers with Ha Giang’s dramatic landscapes, rich ethnic traditions, and everyday mountain life while protecting the environment and supporting local communities. We believe travel should leave a positive footprint, both for visitors and for the places they explore.

We have just finished the 4 day, 3 night tour with Motor Ventures and I can honestly say it was the best experience we have ever had. Nam was the best leader we could have asked for, always making sure we were all okay and communicating so clearly with us about what the plans were for the day, and the timings. There was not one point I felt unsafe. Nam & his team of drivers were incredible, and they all joined in getting to know each other. My driver was Pho & he was so great! Kept me very safe, helping me on and off the bike as well as making sure my helmet was tight enough.
